The NJIT version of the HyperText Browser breaks the screen up into three distinct areas.
First, the top line is the title line for the current document. This is displayed in reverse video.
Second, the next 17 lines in the center of the screen provide a window into the document being displayed.
Third, the last 5 lines are the command section. The line separating the document window and the command section contains the hypertext link required to display the current document.
To select an item or invoke an action in the WEB, one should use any of the three selection methods provided.
One, the cursor keys to move the highlighted area around the screen.
Two, the item number to directly select the Hypertext link.
Three, type the capitalized letter in the command.
Once the item has been highlighted depress the return key to select the item.
Actions for each Selection
- Next
- Proceed to the next page of the current document. Note the upper right hand corner will have the percentage of the document that has been displayed.
- Back
- Back up a page in the current document.
- Up
- Go Up a level (return to the previous document you were viewing).
- Find
- Search for a key word in the current document.
- List
- Display all the hypertext links in the current document.
- Recall
- Display the Hypertext links you have selected to get to the current document.
- Top
- Go to the top of the current document and display the first page.
- End
- Go to the end of the current document and display the last part of the last page.
- Go
- Go to any document/service you know the direct hypertext link. Types include: file, http, telnet, rlogin, news, and wais.
- saVe
- Save the current document in a file.
- eXit
- Quit/Stop/Exit from this program
- Query
- Select a Hypertext link and display the document associated with the link.
- Comment
- Enter a comment associated with the current document you are viewing. This will generate a mail message to the author of the document you are currently reading.
- Preceding
- Look at the Preceding Hypertext link in the upper level document.
- Succeeding
- Look a the next/succeeding link in the upper level document.
- Home
- Go to the initial document you received when you started this program. This will keep you current location in the Hypertext documents.
