INTRODUCTION

EIES® is a web-based, third-generation computerized conferencing system with many advantages over other forms of communications such as telephone, mail, and simple e-mail. Designed by a team whose members have been involved with computerized conferencing for more than three decades, EIES® seeks to conform to the international standards of group communications including the ITU-T X.400 and the ISO/IEC 10021.

Think of EIES® as an electronic meeting place, post office, and workroom. Thoughts, ideas, and news can be shared with people who are across the street, across the state, or across the country, any time of the day or night. Complex projects can be planned with colleagues who are thousands of miles, and several time zones away. Private mail and public announcements can be exchanged. Drafts of documents can be revised instantly and simultaneously by several EIES® collaborators in locations distant from each other.

Personal keys, a feature unique to EIES®, allows you to ‘tag’ any item with any label you wish. Personal keys are similar to folders in traditional mail systems and can save you valuable time by allowing you to sort the tasks requiring your immediate attention from those tasks that are less urgent.
