ABOUT THIS GUIDE
The newest version of EIES®, sometimes called web-EIES® or net-EIES®, is currently in a state of rapid development. As such, the system, and all associated user documentation, including this manual, are subject to change at any time. User documentation will be updated periodically to reflect changes. Refer to the online documentation for the most up to date information.
This guide covers the most commonly used features of the Electronic Information Exchange System (EIES®). Before using EIES® you should have at least a basic understanding of how an Internet/World Wide Web browser works. This manual describes using EIES® with the Netscape® browsers. Refer to your browser’s on-line documentation or user manual to learn about its basic functionality. The screen displays in this manual will look similar to what will appear on your browser, however, graphical elements (such as data entry boxes) have been replaced with simple lines.
EIES normally provides many ways to perform a task or access a piece of information. This guide describes the simplest methods for using EIES®, but not necessarily the only methods. Feel free to explore the system on your own to discover the procedures that work best for you.
In addition to the basic features covered in this manual, EIES® has a number of advanced features and these are described in the Advanced Features Guide.
