Frequently Asked Questions
- From home:
- From your office: Frequently users have difficulty connecting to EIES/VC (http://vc.njit.edu) from their offices. Many times this is due to a firewall or proxy server on their network. In such cases your are likely to see 'Message 510' as an error from your browser. To correct this, contact the network administrator at your place of work and provide them with the following information:
Initial connection: eies.njit.edu IP address: 128.235.251.164. Initial port id: 80 Once connected, users will be automatically be routed to one of the following machines. These machines are run with security in mind.

Note: All of these ports are used by all of the machines on the left.
If you continue to have difficulty connecting via your office you can use a modem to directly connect to NJIT (see Connecting to the NJIT Campus Network for instructions). Alternately you can telnet to EIES/VC (see Connecting to EIES/VC via Telnet From a Remote Host for instructions). The telnet solution will only allow you to access the vt100 version of EIES (see The EIES Starting Guide (vt100 version).
