CHAPTER 8
The Poll/Survey activity can be used to obtain specific information from a group, such as their satisfaction with the current healthcare available to them, or their satisfaction with a professor or course. A Poll/Survey can be elaborate, or as brief as one or two questions. The creator of the activity is able to view the results of a specific individual as well as the summation of all the results. The creator of the activity may allow the member of the group to view the results of questions as well.
8.1 Doing a Poll/Survey Activity
If you are currently viewing at item that has a Poll/Survey activity attached, type Y in response to the use ( Activity ) attachment (Y/N) > prompt and skip to the paragraph immediately following the Poll/Survey Question List screen below. Otherwise, enter a conference that has a Poll/Survey activity waiting. Select review activitY list. From this list choose the Poll/Survey activity that you would like to complete and select Do. EIES® will ask: Enter item number of the activity (#/c#cc# ) >. Type the number of the activity you wish to do (the activity number is simply the comment number that the activity is attached to).
Before you begin answering the questions, you may wish to read the description of the survey (the abstract) by selecting view poll/survey Abstract. Additionally you may view the questions and your latest answer (if you have answered any of the questions already) by selecting View poll/survey question item. Once you have viewed all the questions, type a - to return to the Poll/Survey Question List Screen. An example of a Poll/Survey question is displayed below:
When you’re ready to begin answering the questions, or if you wish to change a response that you previously entered, select Respond/update your answer to a Question. EIES® will ask: Enter Item Numbers to Respond (#, #-#) ( <CR> for all ) >. Type the number of the question(s) you wish to respond to (or press <ENTER> to answer all the questions). The text of the question(s) will be displayed as below:
Select Choose a number/response to answer the question. EIES® will ask: Enter a Response (1/2/3/N) >. For example, if you wanted to choose Soft Mist in the above question, you would type 1 as your response. The Poll/Survey Questions List screen will be updated to indicate your answers as in the screen below:
In this case, the user only answered the third question of the activity.
8.2 Viewing Poll/Survey Results
If you would like to see the responses of other members of the group select Do from the Activities Review screen and then enter the number of the Poll/Survey activity which you want to view the results of. Finally, select Display results of a question. EIES® will ask: Enter Item Numbers to Display Results of ( <CR> for all viewable) >. Type the number of the question you wish to view the results of. A screen similar to the following will be displayed:
The responses of the other members are displayed along with some statistics such as the Median answer to each question.
